“Mirage” is a capsule collection that incorporates a combination of masculine and feminine styles of fashion. The title comes from the optical illusion, or mirage, that appears when someone is suffering from heat over exhaustion. It allows the collection to explore the longing thirst that society has for equality. Each of the fabrics depict how individual parts of society have the ability to work together in order to create a more just society.
The silhouette of the shirt emulates the strong individuals who have the power to create an equal way of living. With the double collar reflecting those that change their behaviour and morals depending on who is boss. The shear blue fabric that overlaps the denim depicts the individuals that have been hurt and betrayed, so they are now protecting their heart from being hurt again. The metallic orange and orange accent zippers are symbolic of the individuals who are not afraid to stand out from the crowd and express their individuality and differences. The incorporation of the snap buttons on the pants allows them to transform into shorts, is symbolic of the adaptability of humankind and provides multipurpose use, which is essential for sustainable fashion.
The Balmain Resort 2024 collection played an important role in creating an exaggerated silhouette that would ensure the outfit would be a stand out design. The custom designed snake print was also inspired by this collection. Gerrit Jacob Spring 2024 inspired the incorporation of a variety of fabrics and using an accent colour to properly accentuate the design. Comme Des Garcons Spring 2024 and Moschino Resort 2024 menswear were the main influences behind the suit jacket style overlay, which allows for the shirt to transform into a more formal shirt.
The Mirage collection is targeted to the younger audience who are inspired by fashion and aspire to wear apparel that expresses their unique qualities.
