Eccentric Identity is a capsule collection that incorporates strong feminine styles in fashion. The name of the collection is inspired by the variety of prints and patterns that have been used to create the garments. The more vivid prints have all been hand drawn and incorporate the hues that are in my colour pallet. The glitchy prints which are visible on the bottom half of the dress and the majority of the jacket are collages of images from important aspects of my life. The images feature my friends and family who have been there and supported me throughout the toughest parts of my life, and the large arrangement of landscape images have been taken on my global travels.
The silhouette of the dress allows for a conservative and sexy look and feel simultaneously. The high slits and high collar allow for the body to be more elongated. The use of the Chinese knot buttons on each side of the rectangles allow for the facing side of the fabric to be seen, whilst also elevating the overall look of the garment. The slit of the dress is partially hidden, creating a covered appearance. The silhouette of the coat presents the wearer with a strong feeling of confidence due to the cape and fitted configuration. The zip pockets that run the side of the coat add functionality to the design. The slight flare of the cuffs provides drama to the design.
The Alexander McQueen Spring 2024 collection played an important role in the adaptation process of creating the dress silhouette. By adding the rectangular pieces and allowing them to hang lose from the body helps to create more volume and flare to the design. Mithridate Spring 2024 collection was the inspiration behind the coat. By exploring a more oversized style of trench coat my final design unites formal and eccentricity.
The Eccentric Identity collection has been designed for the young adult who wants to stand out and feel confident in the clothes that they wear. By choosing this collection the wearer will be able to embrace their uniqueness through colour, bespoke print and creative design.
